Episode Overview

While out hunting, Jake mistakenly shoots and kills an Indian, believing he was aiming at a deer. In the chaos, Horace gets hit by an arrow, and Mike tends to his wound. Overwhelmed with fear and guilt, Jake and Loren concoct a story that they were attacked by the Indians, convincing Horace to go along with the deception. This leads to escalating tensions between the townsfolk and the Indians, putting Sully and Mike in a difficult position. The situation threatens to escalate into war, creating a rift between Sully and Mike, as well as between Sully and Cloud Dancing. Ultimately, Mike gets Horace to confess, and Sully steps in to restore peace. The tribal council decides that Jake must compensate the deceased man's family by returning his horse, watch, and ring.
