Episode Overview

Pete and his crew take on the task of renovating the home of an obnoxious father, played by Andrew Daly, and his introverted son, portrayed by Drew Justice, while the mother is away on deployment. As the renovations grow increasingly difficult and the father’s behavior becomes more frustrating, Derrick worries that Pete’s infamous temper might erupt. However, Pete manages to cope by applying a strategy he learned in Afghanistan called "embracing the suck." Just as they wrap up the projects, Pete snaps when the father dismisses him and his team as "not real soldiers." Meanwhile, Randy devises a way for the father to bond with his son. On another front, Jill believes Cody is meeting her for coffee to discuss her interest in the Advanced Leader Course, but he’s actually using her to gather intel on his teenage daughter.
