Episode Overview

Tanigaki receives a telegram notifying him that Huci is on the brink of death. He reflects on his complicated relationship with Kenkichi, a Matagi who once married and subsequently murdered Tanigaki's sister. Fueled by a desire for revenge, Tanigaki enlisted in the 7th after hearing rumors of Kenkichi’s military service. During the Battle of 203 Hill, he confronted a dying, blind Kenkichi, who revealed that he had put Tanigaki's sister to rest after she contracted smallpox. Now, in the present, Tanigaki’s group reunites with Asirpa, Sugimoto, Ogata, and Shiraishi.
