S01E05 Unhealthy government experiment
Episode Overview
In the 1870s, Jandamurra is born on a cattle station in the Kimberley, but his life shifts dramatically when he chooses to abandon his role as a police tracker to stand with his people. Meanwhile, Gladys Gilligan, one of over 50,000 mixed-race children taken from their families and placed in missions, faces her own struggles. The Chief Protector of Aborigines, AO Neville, intervenes by institutionalizing her firstborn, ordering her arrest, and denying her the chance to marry on three occasions. Despite these challenges, Gladys fiercely maintains her independence.
