Three years ago, Julie and Patrick Eltridge purchased an old house in Clovelly, Sydney, for $1.6 million, primarily for its land and stunning sea views, rather than the asbestos-laden structure itself. With time running short, they need to expedite the construction of a sleek, modern two-story home within months. Their solution arrives from Melbourne, where a pre-fabrication company crafts four high-end, architect-designed modules in a controlled environment. Once finished, the modules will be transported to Sydney in a striking convoy and lifted into place by crane. Meanwhile, the demolition and site prep pose their own set of challenges, presenting more twists and turns than an Agatha Christie mystery, making the assembly of the new modules seem straightforward by comparison.
