Episode Overview

Mark has a date with Debbie Pledger, prompting Hardcastle to find a replacement for their poker night. Unfortunately for Hardcastle, his fellow players—Judge Mattie Groves, Lieutenant Frank Harper, and bailiff Charlie Masaryk—invite Assistant District Attorney Freddie "Bummer" Bumgarner, someone Hardcastle can't stand. Meanwhile, three robbers, Tommy Kitchens, Crazy Horse, and Joey Britton, escape to Hardcastle's estate after robbing a liquor store. They take the poker players hostage and escalate the situation by shooting Frank upon discovering he's a cop. When Mark arrives for wine, he learns of the crisis. With Frank's help from a bedroom, Mark sets a trap, and, surprisingly, Freddie steps up to assist, enabling Mark to capture the robbers.
