On March 5, 1988, Gibb marked his 30th birthday in London as he worked on a new album. Just two days later, he was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after experiencing chest pains. Sadly, on March 10, 1988, Gibb passed away from myocarditis, a condition linked to his prolonged use of cocaine, which had severely damaged his heart. His former wife, Kim Reeder, revealed that she wasn't shocked by the news, having anticipated this fate given his struggles with substance abuse.
