Marilyn Cartright, a wealthy heiress, puts an ad in a magazine seeking love and companionship. However, her true motive is to track down the con man responsible for her sister's suicide. She soon discovers Charles "Country Boy" Barnaby and uses her considerable charm to extract information from him. But when Barnaby is later discovered dead from poisoning, the police suspect Marilyn of murder, believing she sought vengeance for her sister's tragic fate.
