Kimble responds to a mysterious advertisement posted by Ellie Burnett, the daughter of his former lawyer. They plan to meet in Kansas City to talk about new details she uncovered regarding a one-armed man, which a private investigator hired by her father had revealed. However, Gerard, aware of the ad’s origin due to his friendship with Ellie's father, begins to suspect she might have feelings for Kimble. As he investigates her, Kimble and Ellie discover that the one-armed man died in a fire only recently. Heartbroken but determined, Kimble seeks confirmation. Later, Ellie's investigator uncovers that the man was actually incarcerated during Helen Kimble's murder, but Ellie decides not to share this crucial information, urging Kimble instead to escape with her, sensing this might be her only chance for a future together.
