Hardcastle and McCormick (1983)
S03E12 Duet for Two Wind Instruments
Episode Overview
When the court finds that Randy Hopke, a convicted felon, was poorly represented by his lawyer, his conviction is overturned, and all charges are dismissed. This unexpected development sparks a heated debate between the judge and Mark. Hardcastle, who oversaw the original trial, maintains that Hopke is guilty of assaulting his girlfriend, Val Mickaelian. In contrast, Mark, familiar with Hopke from prison, argues that the judge erred. Both men embark on their own investigations to validate their claims. Ultimately, they discover that while Hopke didn't assault Val, he had orchestrated the attack to mask a murder committed during a diamond heist. Suspecting Val's involvement with Hopke, they follow her, leading them to both him and the stolen goods. After a surprising chase, they manage to apprehend Hopke, bringing the case to a close.
