In Texas, two women from different towns suffer horrific assaults at the hands of a rapist who threatens them with a knife, leaving behind DNA evidence that, at the time, couldn’t be utilized. Years later, the advent of CODIS, a DNA database, finally connects the samples to a known serial rapist. Meanwhile, just days before Christmas, a woman is discovered murdered, with only a fingerprint on a soda bottle as evidence. Forensic experts manage to lift the print, but it remains unmatched for years. Eventually, a dedicated investigator finds a match, leading to a breakthrough in the cold case. In another story, Juliet Rowe is brutally murdered in her home, shot execution-style. Despite countless efforts, her case goes cold. Eight years later, a stranger named Keith Rose converses with her husband in a pub. Shortly after, he faces arrest for kidnapping, drawing attention to the unsolved murder and prompting investigators to reconsider him in Juliet's case.
