After a young woman is gunned down during an appointment she was never meant to attend, detectives Goren and Eames delve into her murder. They discover that she had undergone a kidney transplant a few years prior. At first, they suspect that Vanessa Nikos might have been targeted for her organs, but soon realize her death is tied to the living donor, Boyce Wainwright. The case takes a twist when they uncover the shooter, who was also in need of a transplant, turns up dead, leading the detectives to suspect a deeper conspiracy.
