As exams loom at Thornhill, the pressure is palpable throughout the school, affecting everyone from seasoned deputy head Mr. Steer to the freshly minted teachers. With the school striving to meet ambitious targets, Mr. Steer is focused on maintaining high standards in student achievement. As an exceptional math teacher, he faces a significant challenge this year: a group of girls who are far more interested in beauty and social events than in math concepts like algebra and trigonometry. Despite their failing grades, he's committed to helping them secure that vital C grade for college admission. At the same time, new teacher Miss Stephens is trying to guide Sheridan through her geography GCSE, but sparking her interest in a debate on the European Union proves to be quite the task. As the exam deadline approaches, Mr. Steer pushes himself to the brink to ensure success.
