Episode Overview
On August 20, 1945, Marion intervenes to prevent Maggie and her group from attacking Sato and stops Kate from removing the Japanese flag. She explains the new order to the women. Yamauchi reveals the stash of supplies kept hidden from them, shocking everyone. Later, Kate and Maggie sneak away to visit Tom at the men’s camp but are stopped by a male POW who warns them about the dangers ahead. In a truck, Maggie and the POW share an intimate moment. The following day, Yamauchi organizes a visit for the women to the men’s camp. By September 19, 1945, a group of Australian soldiers arrives at the camp and is appalled by the conditions. The women learn they will be departing for Singapore the next day. Alice is mistaken for a boy by the soldiers. In a tragic moment, Sato takes his own life, witnessed by Dorothy and Joss. The next morning, Yamauchi bids farewell to Marion and apolog
