Episode Overview
Kate is heartbroken following Tom's death and seeks solace from Sister Ulrica, who attends the funeral despite Tom's Protestant faith. Determined to honor Tom's memory, Kate resolves to pursue a career in medicine. Meanwhile, Marion makes a trip to the prison to see Yamauchi, with Jake's assistance in arranging the visit. He reveals that he was aware of her diary and allowed Christina to take the pages for it. Marion expresses regret that it will be used against him, but he insists he'd prefer death over imprisonment, claiming it’s a more honorable choice. After a boy gets too close for comfort, Bea must have a candid talk with Alice about life’s realities. Maggie discovers she is pregnant, while Clifford and Marion clash over her decision to visit Yamauchi, leading her to question their future together.
