Episode Overview
Bear Sanderson informs his wife, Cora, that he’s coming home, but she’s far from pleased, feeling trapped in their marriage. Bear secretly wishes she were gone, and soon, that wish becomes reality. Meanwhile, Festus recruits deputies to deal with the renegades, while Doc Adams delivers the devastating news to Cora that her home has burned down and her mother has passed away. Cora inquires about her mother’s death, and Newly continues his pursuit of the renegades. Matt expresses his sympathy to Bear, cautioning him against seeking vengeance for his wife's murder. Cora pleads with her father to allow the law to address the raids. Matt hires a lawyer to represent the jailed Indians, but the lawyer refuses. Cora then approaches Cicero Wolfe, who also declines the case. Feeling betrayed, Matt reflects on a past incident when Bear abandoned his badge to hunt down Kitty's attackers alone, risking chaos in Dodge. Eventually, Mr. Wolfe accepts the case but reveals
