Episode Overview

On a lazy Saturday morning, Bill is deep in slumber when Missy shakes him awake, urging him to buy a gift for Mr. Preston’s surprise birthday bash. She has discovered an antique pocket watch similar to one Mr. Preston often reminisced about losing as a child. Instead, Bill and Ted spend time rehearsing in the garage, and after blowing an amp, they decide to use the money for a new one. They plan to time travel to retrieve the watch before Bill's dad misplaces it, but in their excitement, they forget. Unable to locate Bill’s father, they contact the Circuits of Time operator, Rufus, who informs them they can’t revisit their own pasts. Ted pretends to be a contest rep, trying to coax Mr. Preston into recalling his childhood phone number. They end up in 1956 San Francisco, mistaking a hip kid for Bill’s dad and following him into a beatnik club, only to be scared off by the boy
