Episode Overview

In the city of Morraine, located in the gang-ridden region of downstate Illinois known as "Little Egypt," election night in 1931 arrives with tension. Newly elected Mayor Marcus Stone delivers a passionate radio address, emphasizing his commitment to reform and vowing to cleanse the town of Charlie Byron, a World War I Major, and his criminal crew, whom he denounces as "bloodsuckers" and "scum." Meanwhile, Major Byron tunes in, infuriated by Stone's words. He instructs his gang to eliminate both the Mayor and Sheriff Mooney, leading to a violent ambush that night with a hail of gunfire from tommy guns.
