On March 31, 1934, Prohibition has ended, but Al Capone continues to wield power from Alcatraz. His latest venture involves "white slavery," a euphemism for prostitution, overseen by the ruthless gangster Mig Torrance. Eliot Ness is in the midst of his seventh raid aimed at shutting down these operations. As the other sex workers flee through a hidden exit, a young woman named Mary Sage remains on a bed, lifeless from a drug overdose.
