Episode Overview
In 1984, New Edition is in Los Angeles working on their second album. Ralph senses the growing resentment among his bandmates and pushes for more vocal parts for everyone. The album becomes a major success, but Bobby's increasingly erratic behavior on tour escalates tensions within the group. Eventually, the situation boils over, leading to a pivotal moment where the members decide to vote Bobby out, forever changing the band’s dynamic. Shortly after, Ralph announces his desire to pursue a solo career, leaving Ricky, Mike, and Ronnie shocked. In response, Mike, now the group's leader, brings R&B singer Johnny Gill into the fold. The conflicts reach a breaking point during their next album recording session.
