Episode Overview
Buffalo Joe, a seasoned captain with 34 years of experience, is approaching his 70th birthday next week. However, his ability to continue flying hinges on passing a crucial medical exam, which could spell the end of his career. Before heading to the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix for five days of testing, he meets with rampies Sam Storm and Jeff Tapper to approve their checkflights on the DC-3. After months of anticipation, Sam falls ill from bad eggs the night before the flight, forcing him to withdraw. Meanwhile, Jeff must confront his fears stemming from an earlier crash landing. As Mikey, Rod, and family prepare a DC-3 cake for Joe’s birthday, they receive news that he’s opted for a nostalgic flight in a vintage 1940 Boeing Stearman instead.
