Ice Pilots NWT (2009)
S06E07 Dogfight
Episode Overview
Mikey showcases a historic Buffalo DC-3, WZS, a relic from World War II, which is being equipped with a unique ‘static’ line for a D-Day reenactment jump. However, army inspectors inform Mikey that modern standards require a winch system for safely retrieving a "hung-up jumper." With time ticking, Cory and Mikey rush to create the retrieval line before the inspector returns for a test. Their clumsiness puts their progress in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Chris Staples and several Buffalo pilots head to Fullerton, California, for Air Combat USA, where they engage in thrilling aerial dogfights. In the first matchup, rookie co-pilot Sam Storm triumphs over veteran David Alexandre, who loses due to motion sickness. Next, confident co-pilot Chris Staples faces off against C-46 captain Devan Brooks, but Devan's experience with traditional aircraft leaves him unprepared, resulting in a 3-0 defeat.
