Episode Overview
As bushfires threaten Mount Thomas, Maggie and Wayne are busy evacuating farms in danger when they unexpectedly encounter a masked man wielding a shotgun. They manage to subdue him and bring him into custody. At the station, he is quickly recognized as one of the three robbers who held up St. David's bank the previous day. Despite being apprehended, he remains tight-lipped, refusing to reveal his identity or that of his partners. In a shocking act, he swallows a handful of thumbtacks, necessitating emergency surgery at the under-staffed Mt. Thomas Hospital, where Dr. Zoe Hamilton is on duty. Meanwhile, Wayne is tricked into surrendering his gun and uniform by another bandit pretending to be a hostage. When Maggie arrives at the hospital, she is puzzled to see someone else wearing Wayne's clothes. Keeping her composure, she tries to make a call to get help.
