A tense standoff is unfolding at the Mt. Thomas hospital, where the desperate Nerida Davidson and Jason Bennett have taken Maggie and Wayne hostage. Outside, the rest of the Heelers remain poised, ready to intervene as bushfires threaten the area, complicating any chance of outside assistance. Their main goal is to extract their injured accomplice, Matt, whose condition is deteriorating after swallowing map pins to reach the hospital, an easier target for their rescue. The situation intensifies with the presence of Augusta Torrini, who is pregnant, and her fiery husband, Sergio. When Wayne bravely confronts the armed duo, he finds himself pistol-whipped and chained to a bed. In a risky move, Maggie, Dr. Zoe Hamilton, and Nurse Tracy Mitchell engage in a high-stakes bluff to secure Augusta's escape, while Adam devises a plan involving disco music.
