Dash encounters a difficult situation when she suspects a case of neglect after nearly colliding with a child on the street. After hours of searching, the child's mother finally appears, and Dash becomes convinced that the woman's gambling addiction is causing her to neglect her son. The mother is outraged by these claims, and Tom steps in to calm things down, reminding Dash that her role is to investigate rather than accuse. Seeking answers, Dash speaks with social worker Tim Ryan, who agrees to look into the matter, but Dash remains determined to ensure the child's safety. Meanwhile, Clancy and Leonie Freeman, a couple with intellectual disabilities, struggle with their baby Rachel, having fallen victim to a con artist posing as a photographer who has swindled them out of their savings.
