Mr. Edwards takes Matthew into his home, but Nancy Oleson reports him. A judge arrives and decides that Matthew should be sent to an institution. In a heartfelt moment, Mr. Edwards argues that everyone has their moments of madness. He persuades the judge to let Matthew remain with him instead.
