Episode Overview
At the temple steps, Shirou, Saber, and Rin encounter Assassin, who allows Shirou and Rin to pass while he engages Saber in battle. As they move forward, Shirou and Rin spot Sakura in strange attire, seemingly in distress and glowing red in a pit arena. Just as they prepare to descend, they’re ambushed from behind; Shirou instinctively blocks the attack with Archer’s swords. Souichirou appears, prompting Shirou to instruct Rin to save Sakura while he confronts Souichirou. Meanwhile, Saber and Assassin continue their duel, exchanging praise for each other's swordsmanship. Assassin reveals that he, Sasaki Kojirou, is a mere creation of legend, lacking any desire for the Holy Grail—his true wish is to face a worthy rival. Flashbacks reveal Rin and Sakura's past as close friends. Caster, watching with a smile, believes she just needs one magician for her sacrificial plot, and everything is unfolding as she intended.
