Fernando dispatches his son, Sancho, along with a small force to Zaragoza to challenge his brother, Ramiro, the King of Aragon. Prior to their departure, Ruy informs Fernando that Flaín attempted to take his life. This revelation prompts Fernando to delve into the mystery of who has been disloyal to him. Meanwhile, Ruy departs from León, unaware that Flaín has secretly sent an assassin within the ranks to eliminate him.
