Clive finds himself in Oxford, taking on the prosecution of three students charged with sexually assaulting a waitress. As he faces a formidable defense attorney, his confidence begins to falter. However, a chance meeting with an old acquaintance reignites a previously undiscovered zeal for prosecution. Just as the case teeters on the brink of falling apart, Clive must confront one of the most significant choices of his career. On another front, Martha represents Ricky Armitage, who has vandalized a local mini-mart and assaulted the shopkeeper. Despite Ricky's shocking violence and utter lack of remorse, Martha is determined to steer him away from the destructive path he seems destined to follow.
