Episode Overview

Following Arael's psychological assault, Asuka falls into a profound despair, rendering her unable to operate her Eva when the new Angel, Armisael, makes its appearance. Armisael starts merging with EVA-00 and poses a danger to EVA-01 as well. In a desperate bid to protect Shinji, Rei makes the ultimate sacrifice. However, to everyone's shock, she reappears unharmed shortly after her selfless act.
