When a stray deer settles in the Brown's backyard, Andy insists on joining Ephram as he sets out to guide the creature back to its natural habitat, leading them on a challenging trek through the mountains. At the same time, Ephram confesses to Amy that he never actually asked his father to consider performing surgery on her comatose boyfriend, Colin. Meanwhile, Delia grapples with her faith after a classmate reveals his disbelief in God, prompting her to question her own beliefs about a higher power.
