Episode Overview
In 300 A.D., Corinium Dobunnorum stood as England's second richest city after Londinium. Today, it's the charming town of Cirencester in Gloucestershire. The Time Team is exploring the leafy Chester Street, eager to uncover clues about the vibrant Roman city and its key thoroughfare, Ermine Street. They wonder if a Roman temple or an early Christian church might have been located here. To pursue their excavation, they need to chat with local residents. A bottle of champagne awaits anyone who discovers a tessellated pavement. They are joined by Roman architectural expert Tom Blagg, coin specialist Richard Reece, and mosaic authority David Neal. The Ermine Street Guard treats Tony to venison stew and uses a wooden crane to raise a stone column crafted by mason Giles MacDonald. During the public presentation, Stewart shares a comprehensive view of the city, supported by Victor's illustrations. Among the various Roman artifacts uncovered are coins, a brooch, a spoon, and a bone die
