Matlock takes on the case of a maid who stands accused of murdering her boss, a situation brought to him by the man's widow. Although Christina Ward's request is peculiar, she insists on revealing the true nature of her late husband. Meanwhile, Matlock feels uneasy as he notices that Charlene is starting to have feelings for Clark, Christina's son, who happens to be an old friend from her college days.
