Cliff, Jerri, and Billy are busy organizing a surprise birthday party for Ben, who heads into the city to grab some barbecue. Unfortunately, his day takes a turn when his car breaks down and he's mugged. To make matters worse, the payphone eats his last quarter. Just as things seem dire, activist Stan Johnson comes to his aid and helps him back to his car, only to find it partially stripped and the barbecue gone. Impressed by Stan's bravery, Matlock steps in to defend him when he's accused of attempting to murder his apartment landlord, a highly regarded figure in the legal world.
