Charles Judels
Charles Judels (August 17, 1882 – February 14, 1969) was a celebrated Dutch actor whose career spanned several decades and encompassed both stage and film. He began his artistic journey in vaudeville during the early 1900s before making a significant mark on Broadway with his debut in The Ziegfeld Follies in 1912. Judels' versatility as an actor was complemented by his remarkable ability to master various dialects, a skill that would become a hallmark of his performances.
Over the course of his career, Judels appeared in more than 130 films, showcasing his talents in both comedy and drama. His inaugural film role came in the 1915 comedy Old Dutch. Among his most memorable performances is his portrayal of the cheese shop owner in the iconic Laurel & Hardy film Swiss Miss, released in 1938.
In addition to his on-screen roles, Judels made a significant impact in the realm of voice acting, most notably as the character Stromboli in Disney's animated classic Pinocchio (1940). Judels continued to contribute to the film industry until his final role in 1949, where he played a Danite merchant in Samson and Delilah. His legacy as a versatile performer endures, reflecting a rich career dedicated to entertaining audiences across generations.
