Richard Edson
Richard Edson, born on January 1, 1954, in New Rochelle, New York, is an accomplished American actor and musician with a rich artistic background. Raised in a Jewish family, Edson's creative journey began in music, where he co-founded the San Francisco art rock band The Alterboys in 1979 alongside Snuky Tate, Tono Rondone, Richard Kelly, and JC Garrett. As a versatile musician, he played both drums and trumpet, showcasing his talents.
Between 1981 and 1982, Edson served as the original drummer for the influential band Sonic Youth, balancing his time with Konk, a punk band, until he transitioned to Konk full-time following Sonic Youth's debut EP. Additionally, he contributed trumpet performances to the self-titled 1984 album by The Offs, further expanding his musical repertoire.
Edson made his on-screen debut in the 1984 film, Stranger Than Paradise, which marked the beginning of a notable acting career. He gained recognition for his performances in iconic films such as Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986), Do The Right Thing (1989), Super Mario Bros. (1993), and Strange Days (1995).
