Aiko Mimasu (November 2, 1910 – January 18, 1982) was a prominent Japanese actress renowned for her impactful performances in post-war "mother-movie" films, earning her the title of "mother-movie actress." Born Aiko Kawaguchi in Minami-Sumiyacho, Minami-ku, Osaka City (now Chuo-ku), she was known for her remarkable ability to portray the complexities of motherhood on screen.

Mimasu was married to Shotaro Kawaguchi, a celebrated author who won the prestigious Naoki Prize. Together, they raised a family that includes her eldest son, actor Hiroshi Kawaguchi, as well as three other sons and a daughter. Notably, her younger sister, Ruriko Kikawa, gained recognition as a member of the 24th class of the Takarazuka Revue.

Her contributions to Japanese cinema were acknowledged in November 1976 when she received the Medal with Purple Ribbon, a prestigious honor celebrating her artistic accomplishments. Unfortunately, Aiko Mimasu's life came to a close when she succumbed to pancreatic cancer at the age of 71 in January 1982 at the Tokyo Women's Medical University Hospital. Her legacy endures through her memorable roles and the impact she had on the film industry, particularly in portraying the essence of motherhood.
