Michael Marshall, born on September 13, 1944, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Hollywood, California, was a notable French-American actor whose career spanned several decades. Following his parents' divorce, Marshall’s father ensured he received a robust American education. Initially pursuing law, he eventually followed his passion for acting, relocating to Paris to join his mother. There, he honed his skills in drama under the tutelage of Raymond Griard.

Marshall made his directorial debut with the film "Potato," which was adapted from Marcel Achard's play and produced in collaboration with Robert Thomas. He had already made his mark in cinema with performances in two international films, one directed by his father and another by the renowned Vincente Minnelli. His stepfather, Gérard Oury, cast him as a young Canadian airman in the iconic film "La Grande Vadrouille" and featured him as a doctor in "Le Coup du parapluie."

Throughout his career, Marshall established himself as a versatile character actor in French cinema, appearing in notable stage productions such as "Croque-monsieur," "Le Vallon," and "Point de feu sans fumée." He also made guest appearances in various television series. The only child of American actor-director William Marshall and French actress Michèle Morgan, and the half-brother of Tonie Marshall, he fathered six children. Michael Marshall passed away on June 2, 2005, in Caen, France, leaving behind a legacy in the world of film and theater.
