Katariina Unt
Katariina Unt, born Katariina Lauk on December 6, 1971, in Tallinn, Estonia, is a prominent actress known for her work on stage, television, and in film. Growing up in Pärnu as the youngest of four siblings, she was influenced by her artistic family, with her mother being an interior decorator and her father a metal artist. After graduating from Pärnu Hansa Secondary School in 1990, she pursued further education at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she graduated in 1994 alongside notable classmates such as Mait Malmsten and Ain Mäeots.
Her professional career commenced at the Tallinn City Theatre, where she performed from 1994 to 2001. Following this, she embraced a freelance career, showcasing her talents at various theaters, including Estonia Theatre and Endla Theatre. In 2007, she became a member of the VAT Theatre in Tallinn, where she continues to captivate audiences with her performances in works by renowned playwrights including William Shakespeare and Anton Chekhov.
Unt made her cinematic debut in Jaan Kolberg's 1994 film *Jüri Rumm*. She gained recognition through her role in the ETV series *Õnne 13* and further established herself with significant performances in films such as *Somnambuul* (2003), *Sügisball* (2007), and *November* (2017). Additionally, she has been credited earlier in her career as Katariina Lauk and Katariina Lauk-Tamm. Unt has been married three times, including to fellow actor Raivo E. Tamm, with whom she shares a daughter. She adopted her current surname after her third marriage in 2011.
