Paul Michael, widely recognized by his stage name Lal, was born on December 2, 1958, and has made significant contributions to Indian cinema as a film director, screenwriter, actor, producer, and distributor. He gained prominence through his collaboration with Siddique, forming the renowned filmmaking partnership known as Siddique-Lal. Together, they created several memorable films, including the iconic comedies Ramji Rao Speaking (1989), In Harihar Nagar (1990), Godfather (1991), Vietnam Colony (1993), and Kabooliwala (1993). Although the duo eventually parted ways, Lal continued to influence the industry by producing Siddique's notable works, such as Hitler (1996) and Friends (1999).

In addition to his earlier collaborations, Lal produced a variety of successful films, including Thenkasipattanam (2000), Kalyanaraman (2002), Chathikkatha Chanthu (2004), and Thommanum Makkalum (2005). His acting career began in 1997 when he portrayed Paniyan in Kaliyattam, directed by Jayaraj. Lal's performance in the 2008 film Thalappavu earned him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor, where he delivered a poignant portrayal of Raveendran Pillai. With a diverse body of work spanning multiple roles within the film industry, Lal remains a celebrated figure in Indian cinema.
