Matsumoto Kenta, known as KENTA, is a prominent vocalist and bassist for the Japanese rock band WANIMA, and he previously played with the group HANIMA.

Born and raised in Kumamoto, KENTA’s musical journey began in his youth, heavily influenced by his older sister’s love for reggae and hip-hop. His musical horizons expanded when he was introduced to punk rock by his childhood friend KO-SHIN, with whom he has shared a lifelong bond since the age of four. This exposure to diverse genres sparked KENTA's passion for music, leading him to form HANIMA during his high school years, setting the stage for WANIMA’s eventual formation.

In 2010, KENTA, alongside KO-SHIN and guitarist WAKITA, officially established WANIMA, which quickly gained recognition for its energetic performances and relatable lyrics. The band has enjoyed significant success, marked by hit singles and albums that resonate with fans across Japan. Their unique blend of punk and rock, infused with personal stories and experiences, has solidified WANIMA's place in the contemporary music scene.

Despite their rise to fame, KENTA's roots remain a vital part of his identity. In his youth, he and KO-SHIN often fished together to help support their families, a testament to their resilience and determination. Through his music, KENTA continues to inspire others, drawing from both his struggles and triumphs.
