Colman Domingo
Colman Jason Domingo, born on November 28, 1969, is a distinguished American actor, playwright, and director. Rising to prominence in the 2010s across both film and theater, Domingo has garnered numerous accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award, alongside nominations for an Academy Award and two Tony Awards. In 2024, Time magazine recognized him as one of the world’s 100 most influential individuals.
Domingo's early career on Broadway featured performances in the 2005 play Well and the 2008 musical Passing Strange. He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Mr. Bones in the Broadway musical The Scottsboro Boys (2011), earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He reprised this role in the 2014 West End production, which earned him a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical. In 2018, he contributed as the book writer for the Broadway musical Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.
After appearing in various Law & Order series and being a core cast member of The Big Gay Sketch Show, Domingo found his breakthrough with the role of Victor Strand in the AMC series Fear the Walking Dead (2015–2023). He further expanded his acclaim with a recurring role as Ali, a recovering addict, on HBO's Euphoria (2019–present), winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2022.
In 2024 and 2025, Domingo earned consecutive Academy Award nominations for Best Actor for his performances as civil rights leader Bayard Rustin in Rustin and as an inmate in Sing Sing. His impressive filmography also includes notable roles in Lincoln (2012), The Butler (2013), Selma (2014), If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020), Zola (2021), and The Color Purple (2023).
