Victoria Abril, born Victoria Mérida Rojas on July 4, 1959, is a renowned Spanish actress and singer celebrated for her captivating performances in film. She gained international acclaim for her role in the provocative film ¡Átame! (Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!), directed by Pedro Almodóvar.
Abril's career began to flourish in 1976 with her stint on the popular Spanish television show Un, dos, tres... responda otra vez, which she graced for two years. Her artistic journey led her beyond Spanish borders, allowing her to act in various films across France, Italy, and Iceland, where she has made her home. A formidable talent, Abril has received eight nominations for the prestigious Goya Awards in the Lead Actress category, securing a win for her outstanding performances. Notably, she was honored with the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 41st Berlin International Film Festival for her role in Amantes, and two years later, she received the Berlinale Camera at the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival in recognition of her contributions to cinema.
