Alexandre Koberidze
Alexandre Koberidze, born on October 19, 1984, in Tbilisi, is a prominent Georgian filmmaker, screenwriter, editor, and actor. He is currently enhancing his cinematic expertise at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin. Koberidze made his directorial debut with the short film "Colophon" in 2015, which garnered attention at the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival.
His second feature film, "Let the Summer Never Come Again," released in 2017, was a significant milestone in his career, earning the Grand Prix at the FID Marseille in the International Competition. Koberidze continued to explore themes of existential wandering in his subsequent work, "What Do We See When We Look at the Sky?" premiered at the prestigious 71st Berlin International Film Festival in 2021. This nearly two-and-a-half-hour romantic drama unfolds in the Georgian city of Kutaisi, portraying the tragic tale of lovers ensnared by a curse.
Although the film did not secure a competitive award, Koberidze's artistry was recognized with the FIPRESCI Prize, underscoring his unique voice in contemporary cinema. His works are characterized by a poetic exploration of life's aimlessness, establishing him as a noteworthy figure in the landscape of international film.
