John Cleese
John Marwood Cleese, born on October 27, 1939, is a renowned English actor, comedian, writer, and producer. He first garnered attention at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and made a name for himself as both a writer and performer on The Frost Report. In the late 1960s, Cleese joined the iconic comedy group Monty Python, which created the beloved sketch show Monty Python's Flying Circus and produced several classic films including And Now for Something Completely Different, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, and The Meaning of Life.
In the mid-1970s, he teamed up with his first wife, Connie Booth, to create and star in the classic British sitcom Fawlty Towers, which remains a staple of British comedy. Later in his career, Cleese appeared alongside Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis, and fellow Python member Michael Palin in the films A Fish Called Wanda and Fierce Creatures. His filmography also includes roles in Clockwise, as well as appearances in two James Bond films, two Harry Potter films, and three installments of the Shrek franchise. Additionally, he co-founded Video Arts with Yes Minister writer Antony Jay, producing engaging training films that combine humor with education.
