Elizabeth Teissier

Élizabeth Teissier, born Germaine Élizabeth Hanselmann on January 6, 1938, is a prominent French astrologer and former model and actress. She gained fame in the 1970s, creating a daily horoscope segment for Antenne 2 from 1975 to 1976, followed by the launch of the Astro Show in Germany in 1981. Teissier's astrological insights drew the attention of notable figures, including former French President François Mitterrand, for whom she provided counsel on both personal and political matters.

Her academic pursuits led to a controversial Doctorate in Sociology, where her thesis posited that astrology was marginalized by the scientific community. This earned her both supporters and critics, as many argued that her work lacked scientific rigor. In 2015, she made headlines by suing the Wikimedia Foundation, alleging that the French Wikipedia entry about her harmed her reputation.

Teissier's early career spanned from 1965 to 1975, during which she appeared in various films, including works by acclaimed directors such as Sydney Pollack and Marcel Carné. She also modeled for renowned fashion houses, including a notable stint with Coco Chanel. After studying astrology under Henri Joseph Gouchon, recommended by Federico Fellini, she became a vocal advocate for astrology's legitimacy, publishing numerous works and columns until 2009. Teissier’s legacy continues to evoke debate and intrigue, particularly through her connection with Mitterrand, whose recorded consultations with her were revealed posthumously.
