He later joined Second City Northwest, showcasing his talent in sketch comedy.

Koechner also landed small roles in films, including Man on the Moon and Wag the Dog. It was during the production of the mockumentary Dill Scallion that he connected with Dave 'Gruber' Allen, leading to the creation of their successful act, The Naked Trucker & T-Bones Show, which gained popularity at venues like Largo and earned them a chance to open for Tenacious D.
