Nancy Reagan
Nancy Davis Reagan, originally named Anne Frances Robbins, was born on July 6, 1921, and passed away on March 6, 2016. She was an American actress and the spouse of Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States. Nancy served as First Lady from 1981 to 1989, leaving a significant mark during her husband's administration.
Her acting career commenced in 1949, featuring in minor roles in films such as *The Doctor and the Girl* alongside Glenn Ford and *East Side, West Side* with Barbara Stanwyck. In 1950, she garnered attention for her portrayal of a child psychiatrist in the film noir *Shadow on the Wall*, which was praised by New York Times critic A. H. Weiler for its "beautiful and convincing" performance. That same year, she appeared in *The Next Voice You Hear...*, where her role as a pregnant housewife captivated audiences, earning commendations from notable reviewers.
In 1951, Nancy starred in *Night into Morning*, a film exploring themes of grief, which she considered her favorite role. After marrying Ronald Reagan in 1952, she continued acting but shifted her focus towards family life, welcoming her first child the same year. Nancy's filmography included *Donovan's Brain* and *Hellcats of the Navy*, the latter being her most recognizable performance, though often seen as an underappreciated actress.
Following her final film role in *Crash Landing* (1958), she made guest appearances on television before retiring from acting in 1962, ultimately embracing her role as a political spouse and First Lady.
