Laurette Marcia "Laura" Gemser, born on October 5, 1950, in Java, Indonesia, is a prominent Dutch actress of Indo descent renowned for her work in the realm of exploitation cinema. Gemser’s career took off in Italy after her relocation from the Netherlands in 1975, where she initially modeled for various magazines in her home country and Belgium. She gained notable fame in the 1970s through her performances in a series of Black Emanuelle films, collaborating closely with directors like Joe D'Amato and Bruno Mattei.

Gemser's most acclaimed role came in 1983, where she portrayed the character Keo Sirisomphone, a Laotian refugee, in the television movie Love Is Forever, under the name Moira Chen. This performance marked her entry into mainstream cinema and showcased her versatility as an actress. Throughout her career, she often teamed up with her husband, actor Gabriele Tinti, appearing in multiple films together.

In the 1990s, Gemser transitioned to costume design for film, stepping away from the spotlight. The loss of her husband to cancer in 1991 deeply affected her.
