Damir Andrei
Damir Andrei is a talented director and actor hailing from Zagreb, Croatia. He moved to Montreal in 1963 at the young age of eight, arriving with his family and little knowledge of English or French. Andrei pursued his passion for the performing arts, eventually graduating from the National Theatre School of Canada, where he was inspired by the renowned Douglas Rain.
Throughout his career, Andrei made significant contributions to the Montreal theatre scene, especially at the now-closed Phoenix Theatre, where he directed productions such as Sexual Perversity in Chicago. His directorial prowess is also evident at Centaur Theatre, where he brought to life plays like Bordertown Café, The Main, Playboy of the West Indies, and The Friedman Family Fortune. Beyond these venues, he has showcased his talents at the Blyth Festival, Canadian Stage, and the National Arts Centre, earning recognition for his unobtrusive, text-focused directing style.
Currently residing in Toronto, Andrei has made a mark in film and television, with notable performances in productions such as Dead Ringers (1988) and Slings and Arrows (2003), among numerous other roles. His dedication to the arts continues to resonate in the Canadian entertainment landscape.
